Since most spammers turn out to be pathetic sociopaths who live in squalid conditions in the wasteland of the American sprawl, meaningful money judgements are going to be hard to collect. I'm opposed to the death penalty on a number of grounds, so we need to "think outside the box" and find creative punishments that might serve as a meaningful disincentive to flood the networks with garbage. Any sentencing ideas? Conscription as a "peacekeeper" in Iraq? Community service: fielding 9,999 Windows customer support calls?
