From the internets:
- You know the famous picture of the helicopter evacuating the embassy during the fall of Saigon? Turns out that it wasn’t the embassy at all..
- For the bacontarian in your life: Bacon Strips Bandages. (via unbeige and cheesedip)
- The Onion reports on foreign affairs: “American students traveling abroad confirm the findings of a study indicating that Washington’s unilateral approach to foreign policy has seriously undermined Americans’ chances of getting laid.” Any reports from our Berlin bureau?
- A $20 million game of Rock, Paper, Scissors.
- A life-size X-Wing Fighter for sale on eBay. Starting bid only $40K.
- Creme Brulee-flavored body lotion. I have no words. (via LL)
- What the world really needs now is a movie version of Miami Vice. To be directed by Michael Mann, so it probably won’t suck too badly. I wonder what Jan Hammer’s been up to recently?
- And finally, a very long, rather technical, but very interesting review of Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger. While Spotlight and Dashboard are going to get all the glory, it looks like Apple’s done a lot of under-the-hood work that’s going to really pay off down the road.
I read that Rock Paper Scissors article. Fascinating.
For a moment I thought that was Bacon Strips Bondages.
1) Shows where my mind is.
2) But wouldn't that make an interesting product? It's like the ultimate in safe play -- just chew your way through the restraints, though I suppose beef jerky would hold up better -- unless you're a vegetarian or keep kosher/ halal.
Also, the sense of detachment the photographer (and probably other members of the press) seems to have surprised me more than it should, considering that it must be necessary to do the job.
